From "Quinta da Murteira," you will need a barely 20 minutes to reach the coast and the historic town of Tavira. Besides the occasional sound of splash from the anchoring fishing boats, gardens, cafes, and restaurants along the beautiful Gilão river are inviting us to sit in their terrace.

The Roman bridge crosses the river and its low arches gently reflected in the calm water.

Tavira is located at the edge of the Natural Park of Ria Formosa, which stretches along the half of the eastern coast of Algarve. It is bounded by a line of islands and peninsulas dune that house the fabulous long golden sandy beaches of the Park. These islands protect a huge lagoon where you meet storks, flamingos, herons ...

All sun and sea-lovers will find their paradise on the islands in the delta of the Ria Formosa. A boat or a little train will take you in minutes on the immense beaches that no vehicle disturbs.

After a hike in the hills or a day on the beach, you will return to the calm and serenity of the Quinta: it's time for a refreshing drink and a dinner by the pool under a wonderful starry sky ..

Between the sea and the mountain, nature lovers can discover the hinterland villages of another time.  Far from the tourist crowds of the coast, either by car or by foot, it is nice to dive in unspoiled nature changing with the seasons, breathe air of a rare purity, perfumed by the fragrance of cysts , thyme and wild lavender.
